Hi, I'm John Allan Roeser, an experienced translator with a proven track record in English to German and Dutch translations, and vice versa. I grew up in the Netherlands near the German border, attended a German school, and had friends from Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium, which allowed me to develop fluency in both German and Dutch. Since 2011, I've gained valuable experience in multilingual tasks through my work experience as both a BPO contractor and an in-house employee. I have provided translation services for various industries, including marketing, legal, technical, and medical fields. I had a few projects on Tolq but mainly worked here on Smartcat, where I've completed 410 projects to date. I have graduated with full marks in Translation Studies for Information Technologies at Heidelberg University in 2018, with a thesis on the translation of a German website in English. During my bachelor I participated to Erasmus+ program, going to London Metropolitan University for two semesters. In 2017 I have done an internship in a German LSP, where I provided technical translations from English to German and vice-versa. While in London, I have partly translated London Metropolitan University website to German.

With a long and extensive background in the corporate world (US, CY & NL companies) in leading positions, I have managed to become a well-rounded specialist with strong expertise in Customer Services, Management, Account Management, Direct Selling, Compliance (within Direct Selling) obtained in international, multicultural environments of the sectors Tourism, e-Commerce, Telecom, FMCG, Financial Trading and Crowdfunding. I have translated text throughout my entire professional career, and am fully bilingual in the language pair EN-DE, DE-EN, and EN/DE - NL. I live in the Netherlands for over 19 years now, am a native German, and work as a freelance translator here and on other platforms for more than 5 years.

I am a native German and a professional translator for 22 years. During this time I specialized in technical, medical, legal, IT and website translations. Over the past years, I have also translated a couple of books (novels) for both well-known international authors and emerging writers. For around 6 years I have been engaged as full time professional German language expert in working directly with numerous German & Austrian clients (incl. Siemens, Volkswagen, BMW, Deutsche Post, Erste Bank, Vienna Insurance Group etc.), so I am accustomed to working with all sorts of German language related work including translations.

I am a certified court translator and interpreter for English, with over 30 years of work experience in translation, proofreading, editing, transcription etc. in English, German, French, Croatian, Bosnian, and Serbian. Over the years I have acquired extensive knowledge of legal, business, marketing, and other terminology. I also have significant experience in the fields of cooking and food, agriculture, kitchen and home appliances, and IT.
