I'm a French native speaker from Brussels, Belgium (born in 1981). I live in the US since 1994 and I'm working as a Translator/Proofreader -French (France and Belgium), English (UK/US), Spanish (Spain/Latin America/US), some Italian to English (2007-present) and French, and Consecutive Interpreter - French, English, Spanish (2009-present) - currently in NY. For certain advanced/expert translation, I'm more comfortable translating into English. I hold an Associates of Arts degree from Westchester Community College and a Masters of Arts and Bachelors of Arts in Spanish, with a Minor concentration/specialisation in Italian from Iona College, Cum Laude ( similar to with distinction or with honours mention). I'm a Candidate in the Spanish to English Translation Programme at NYU CPS (NY University School of Continuing and Professional Studies) to earn my Translation Certificates and pursuing continuing adult education/professional translation studies at Translation and Interpreter Training at International School of Linguists and other companies. I also hope to become an accomplished author/writer and poet.

I've always had a passion for languages! Born in France, I grew up speaking French and learning English and German in school from an early age. I also touched on Italian, Spanish and Greek. But ultimately, my career led me to focus on English. I left France at the age of 30, stayed for 2 years in the USA, and have now been living in Canada since 2015. My background is scientific: I have several degrees in the biomedical and life sciences fields, including a Ph.D. in Biotechnology. I have over 10 years of experience in healthcare and research. During that time, I also offered translation services in my field as a secondary part-time activity. As of 2020, I am now a full-time translator English-to-French and French-to-English. My main interests remain in the medical/health sciences field, but I am also interested in a variety of other subjects that are not necessarily science related. From 1990 to 2003, I worked mainly as programmer, using various languages such as Fortran, Pascal, C, Visual Basic, SQL, Javascript and Perl and as system administrator, setting computers and networks and familiar with UNIX, and most of Windows OS and Mac OS versions. - From 2001 to 2010, I worked as French translator in an in-house translation department, translating over 7 millions words. This included company literature, magazines, services brochures, finance manuals, computers manuals, Web sites, voice over scripts and subtitles. - From 2011 to 2015, I became a Translation System Manager, implementing the SDL WorldServer solution in my department, setting up the software including workflows and filters, writing training material for the translators and translation manager and getting the system in used. I strongly believe that to translate accurately, one needs to master not only the languages and translation techniques but also the subject in both the source and target languages. I am also convinced that to be an efficient translator, one needs to be flexible, be able to work alone or within a constantly moving team and have good organisational skills. My goal when I translate is to release well finished documents or applications that will be easy and pleasant to use. I believe that to translate accurately, one needs to master not only the languages and translation techniques but also the subject in both the source and target languages. I am French and Swiss German, grew up and did a Law Phd in France and in French: French being considered as my mother tongue, even though I grew up in German, but anyhow… My Dad has had the opportunity to spend a few years in the States (Westchester County, NY) and we of course followed him. We visited the American school system (7th grade on my side) and learned English there. Wonderful experience!
