I'm a French native speaker from Brussels, Belgium (born in 1981). I live in the US since 1994 and I'm working as a Translator/Proofreader -French (France and Belgium), English (UK/US), Spanish (Spain/Latin America/US), some Italian to English (2007-present) and French, and Consecutive Interpreter - French, English, Spanish (2009-present) - currently in NY. For certain advanced/expert translation, I'm more comfortable translating into English. I hold an Associates of Arts degree from Westchester Community College and a Masters of Arts and Bachelors of Arts in Spanish, with a Minor concentration/specialisation in Italian from Iona College, Cum Laude ( similar to with distinction or with honours mention). I have been working as a freelance translator for the past 21 years. I do not own a university degree in translation/interpretation, but the multitude of translation projects I have worked on over the years has done more for my capacity as a translator than any degree could have ever done. Though French is my mother tongue, I have spent the last 21 years living both in French and English (my partner is an American citizen). From 1990 to 2003, I worked mainly as programmer, using various languages such as Fortran, Pascal, C, Visual Basic, SQL, Javascript and Perl and as system administrator, setting computers and networks and familiar with UNIX, and most of Windows OS and Mac OS versions. - From 2001 to 2010, I worked as French translator in an in-house translation department, translating over 7 millions words. This included company literature, magazines, services brochures, finance manuals, computers manuals, Web sites, voice over scripts and subtitles. - From 2011 to 2015, I became a Translation System Manager, implementing the SDL WorldServer solution in my department, setting up the software including workflows and filters, writing training material for the translators and translation manager and getting the system in used.
