I am a languages student from Northern Ireland, studying Spanish and Portuguese. I may not be fully qualified, but I am now looking to fill my time with more translation due to the fact that I had to return home during my Erasmus year due to the COVID-19 outbreak. I still am continuing with my classes from my host university (Porto, in Portugal) and am currently studying a translation module so I am familiar with CAT software and the proper protocol for translation.

I've been in translations/linguistics since 1997, millions of words, vast experience, a great lot of fields, I've worked for Google, Airbnb, governments (local and states), just name it. I'm fond of languages. I can speak English (of course), French, Russian, some German, Norwegian, Chinese and even Ukrainian. I've studied Icelandic and am familiar with Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Faroese. Localization/CAT tools: starting from routine tasks such as bilingual files prep and post-processing and ending with deployment of custom-tailored translation memory servers using SVN or GIT technologies. Briefly, I love everything related to languages.

I am currently studying an MA in translation studies on a part-time basis (2021-2023), having completed an undergraduate degree in European Studies with German and Spanish over the previous four years. Having worked as an intern in a translation and localization role in 2021, continuing as a freelancer afterwards, I have 6 months experience in translating a wide range of texts. I have a keen interest in travel and culture, having spent time abroad in both Germany and Spain during my degree. I have 31 years of experience teaching and tutoring all levels of Spanish. With a Master's Degree in the Spanish Language and Literature from Middlebury College, VT, I consider myself to be a grammar expert, in addition to being fluent in the language. I had study abroad experiences in Mexico prior to living in Madrid during graduate school. In 2010 I spent the Winter-Spring semester traveling throughout Argentina and homeschooling my then 3rd grade son and 7th grade daughter. Also in 2010, I began a summer language immersion program, True Immersion, LLC, in Sevilla, Spain for American teens - which continues today. I am highly proficient in Italian - primarily self-taught - but have also studied at the Lorenzo de Medici and Centro Firenze language schools in Florence over the last 14 years.
