Hello everybody! My name is Braj. I am working as a freelance translator for the last seven years. Over the years, I have translated a variety of texts in all the major fields, such as medical, technical and legal texts, literary texts, tourist information, web pages, and advertising leaflets. However, my preferred subjects are legal translations, tourism & leisure industry and sales & marketing. My translations are 100% handmade, which means that I never use machine-translation programs, only the best translators tools existing on the market, such as MemoQ and SDL Trados, for the simple reason of saving time in order to deliver the commissioned work in the record time. Before starting any translation, I thoroughly study the topics related to the text subject, and always consult specialised dictionaries and manuals.

I have been working as a language specialist since 2000, initially working in ESL/EFL teaching and international test preparation before focusing on Spanish to English translation (legal, energy, water, wine, mining, among others). I have gained experience working for the different ministries in Chile (ChileCompra, Foreign Ministry, Treasury, etc), along with numerous local and international companies (Codelco, AES Corp, Siemens, etc.), as well as local universities (UDEC, UBB, UDD), in documents ranging from a simple CV through to the contracts, manuals and university papers. I have also been fortunate enough to translate several books including No return Guaranteed the fascinating story behind the rescue of Ernest Shackleton's crew from Antarctica. I've been in translations/linguistics since 1997, millions of words, vast experience, a great lot of fields, I've worked for Google, Airbnb, governments (local and states), just name it. I'm fond of languages. I can speak English (of course), French, Russian, some German, Norwegian, Chinese and even Ukrainian. I've studied Icelandic and am familiar with Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Faroese. Localization/CAT tools: starting from routine tasks such as bilingual files prep and post-processing and ending with deployment of custom-tailored translation memory servers using SVN or GIT technologies. Briefly, I love everything related to languages.
