I've been born to German-speaking Austrian parents but was raised in English-speaking Canada. Due to this fact and to the fact that I competed my Master's in Austria, I am fluent in both languages and am fond of translating from German into English. Since 2000, when I started my translator's career, I've managed to translate millions of words in a great range of fields, from fiction to medicine.

Mother tongue English translator with fluent Italian and several years of professional experience in the language sector. My bilingual skills and previous work experience have developed across a variety of sectors. Initially travel and tourism, marketing and promotions.

I am a languages student from Northern Ireland, studying Spanish and Portuguese. I may not be fully qualified, but I am now looking to fill my time with more translation due to the fact that I had to return home during my Erasmus year due to the COVID-19 outbreak. I still am continuing with my classes from my host university (Porto, in Portugal) and am currently studying a translation module so I am familiar with CAT software and the proper protocol for translation.

I love helping creative businesses and academics find the right words to reach the right people. I like asking questions. My aim is to ensure clear and correct style in my mother tongue. Attractive prose is important to me. As is striving to make life better. I am a member of Catalan professional translation association APTIC and a Qualified Member of the UK professional translator's association: ITI. I am also a certified Proz.com translator in all my language combinations and a member of the UK based Emerging Translators Network for literary translators. I have been working as a language specialist since 2000, initially working in ESL/EFL teaching and international test preparation before focusing on Spanish to English translation (legal, energy, water, wine, mining, among others). I have gained experience working for the different ministries in Chile (ChileCompra, Foreign Ministry, Treasury, etc), along with numerous local and international companies (Codelco, AES Corp, Siemens, etc.), as well as local universities (UDEC, UBB, UDD), in documents ranging from a simple CV through to the contracts, manuals and university papers. I have also been fortunate enough to translate several books including No return Guaranteed the fascinating story behind the rescue of Ernest Shackleton's crew from Antarctica. I have 31 years of experience teaching and tutoring all levels of Spanish. With a Master's Degree in the Spanish Language and Literature from Middlebury College, VT, I consider myself to be a grammar expert, in addition to being fluent in the language. I had study abroad experiences in Mexico prior to living in Madrid during graduate school. In 2010 I spent the Winter-Spring semester traveling throughout Argentina and homeschooling my then 3rd grade son and 7th grade daughter. Also in 2010, I began a summer language immersion program, True Immersion, LLC, in Sevilla, Spain for American teens - which continues today. I am highly proficient in Italian - primarily self-taught - but have also studied at the Lorenzo de Medici and Centro Firenze language schools in Florence over the last 14 years. From 2006-2011 I participated in an Italian Book Club hosted by a native instructor from Virginia Commonwealth University. I love the work of translating and look forward to helping you!
