I've been in translations/linguistics since 1997, millions of words, vast experience, a great lot of fields, I've worked for Google, Airbnb, governments (local and states), just name it. I'm fond of languages. I can speak English (of course), French, Russian, some German, Norwegian, Chinese and even Ukrainian. I've studied Icelandic and am familiar with Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Faroese. Localization/CAT tools: starting from routine tasks such as bilingual files prep and post-processing and ending with deployment of custom-tailored translation memory servers using SVN or GIT technologies. I am a passionate linguist with many years of experience in translation and interpretation. I hold an M.Phil in French from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, with a specialization in Translation & Interpretation, and also a C1 from Alliance française of Madras. I work predominantly between English and French. I translate mainly literary, general, administrative texts as well as scientific articles and reviews. Winner of translation grant from Centre national du livre, Paris.

My name is Vanessa Walsh and I'm currently working as a freelance translator and language teacher in Bavaria, Germany. I have an MA in Translation Sciences from the University of Heidelberg in Germany and a BA from Queen's University in Canada in Foreign Languages and Intl. Studies (French/German). I grew up in Ontario, Canada, and English is my mother language. I have many years of immersion in my source languages, years of uninterrupted translation experience, and an excellent command of English, my target language. I specialize in medical translation. Further experience includes literary, academic, website, and business/marketing translation, and I have translated several documents including novels, academic papers, scripts, business plans, and more, from FRA-ENG and DEU-ENG. I also work with technical translations and/or post-editing.

Since starting to work as a translator in March 2016 I have translated and revised over 500,000 words in a broad range of fields, including marketing, technical, automotive, medical, sport and many more.
