My name is Vanessa Walsh and I'm currently working as a freelance translator and language teacher in Bavaria, Germany. I have an MA in Translation Sciences from the University of Heidelberg in Germany and a BA from Queen's University in Canada in Foreign Languages and Intl. Studies (French/German). I grew up in Ontario, Canada, and English is my mother language. I have many years of immersion in my source languages, years of uninterrupted translation experience, and an excellent command of English, my target language. I specialize in medical translation. Further experience includes literary, academic, website, and business/marketing translation, and I have translated several documents including novels, academic papers, scripts, business plans, and more, from FRA-ENG and DEU-ENG. I am a English & German native speaker with a great passion for language. Since 2014 I have been working as English to German freelance translator. In addition to that I have also gained valuable in-house experience by working at established and well-known translation agencies occupying roles as translation checker and proof-reader as well as project manager and translator.

I am a proficient bilingual Spanish to English and French to English translator, proofreader and copy editor and I specialise in marketing, technical, medical and legal texts. Living in Spain for over 10 years has enabled me to perfect my language skills and offer a professional translation, proofreading, and copy-editing service. I also undertake post-editing work. My work includes proofreading and editing translations and work (business and academic) written by non-native English speakers to ensure it reads as accurate and natural English. Through my intense and ongoing language studies I have the skills, both as a translator and interpreter, to present an accurate and contextual form of the source language in the target language. As a content writer I write copy for many sectors including: marketing, e-commerce, SEO, finance, IT, property, travel, home interiors, education, construction, retail, and languages.

I am a passionate linguist with many years of experience in translation and interpretation. I hold an M.Phil in French from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, with a specialization in Translation & Interpretation, and also a C1 from Alliance française of Madras. I work predominantly between English and French. I translate mainly literary, general, administrative texts as well as scientific articles and reviews.
