I am a translator based in Guatemala and have over seven years of experience translating a variety of documents. I am certified to translate legal documents. Apart from working as a freelance translator, I have also worked as a translator and interpreter for an NGO. More recently, I have specialized in translating news articles from English into Spanish for a major news organization, including proofreading and editing articles. These covered a wide scope of topics, from travel and entertainment to social issues and politics. I am used to working on close deadlines, paying attention to detail and delivering a high-quality translation. My name is Germán and I am a native and bilingual Catalan/Castilian Spanish speaker. As a freelancer, I provide services in two main areas: - Translation English to Spanish, English to Catalan, Spanish to Catalan and Catalan to Spanish. - Proofreading Spanish and Catalan texts. I have a degree in Surveying and I worked as surveyor and GIS specialist. And I studied English at UOC University. I self-studied SEO, Social Media and Wordpress. As translator I translated some technical manuals, documents, mobile apps, websites, and other documentation. I set up several Wordpress based websites, as my own website (www.atravesdelvisor.net – Just in Catalan for now. But I have got plans to translate it to English and Spanish) or the website of the photography association which I belong (www.tarracofotografia.com), which I'm translating now from Spanish to Catalan.

I have 31 years of experience teaching and tutoring all levels of Spanish. With a Master's Degree in the Spanish Language and Literature from Middlebury College, VT, I consider myself to be a grammar expert, in addition to being fluent in the language. I had study abroad experiences in Mexico prior to living in Madrid during graduate school. In 2010 I spent the Winter-Spring semester traveling throughout Argentina and homeschooling my then 3rd grade son and 7th grade daughter. Also in 2010, I began a summer language immersion program, True Immersion, LLC, in Sevilla, Spain for American teens - which continues today. I am highly proficient in Italian - primarily self-taught - but have also studied at the Lorenzo de Medici and Centro Firenze language schools in Florence over the last 14 years. From 2006-2011 I participated in an Italian Book Club hosted by a native instructor from Virginia Commonwealth University. I love the work of translating and look forward to helping you!

About me Growing up bilingual When I was 10-years-old, my family moved from Spain to Colorado, USA. I attended middle school there and all of my friends were American. After just 9 months no one could believe I was not born American. Learning a language this way is the most effective and efficient way to learn it. As a child, you just simply take everything in and while learning a new language, you are also learning a new culture and way of thinking. At age 13 I moved back to Spain. I was then able to cement my Spanish cultural roots. Then, when I was 15-years-old, we moved again, this time to Portugal. Here I was able to learn Portuguese at still an early age. After obtaining two University Degrees, in Law and Business Administration, and an MBA in International Business Management, I worked for several years as a lawyer, external auditor in PwC, financial controller and cost manager in several countries around the world. Throughout this time, I also worked as a freelance translator and reviser for a Law Firm for over 8 years. It then became clear to me that I was meant to be a translator and now I work as a full-time translator and reviser.
