I’m an English to Russian and Russian to English translator. I’ve been doing freelance for some 12 years, and during this time I had great experience in many areas. I am from Uzbek roots citizen of Tajikistan and living last 7 years in Turkey. I have studied Russian, which is second official language of Tajikistan during primary, secondary and high school. I am a qualified translator with a BA in linguistics and extensive experience in the translation industry. My native languages are Russian and Belarusian, and I’m fluent in English and Italian, so I can translate in any combination of these. My primary focus at the moment is on marketing, legal and notarial translations together with film subtitling and app localisation, but I’m also comfortable with other areas such as IT and video games.

My translation career encompasses diverse areas, from movie industry (translating for Hollywood film stars (Jon Voight, Sammi Davis) to translating for roughnecks on drilling rigs in Siberia. This hands-on experience in various occupations, combined with technical background in survey & mapping, allows me to produce accurate, precise translations of even the most complicated texts. I have been working as a freelance translator since 2006, with more than 6 million words translated to date. I first started my translation career in mid 1980-ies with a few odd translation / interpretation jobs of a few months each.

I then went on to work as a staff translator for the first Soviet-US JV White Nights in 1990 and continued to pursue this career with several other JVs and US companies until 2006, when I became a full-time freelance translator. Besides working as a translator during that period, I also held several other positions in procurement, logistics and administration at these companies, which subsequently proved to be a valuable source of knowledge for my work as an independent translator after 2006.
