I've been working as a freelance translator since 2018 and have experience working with direct clients and for agencies. I've translated and proofread texts from the technical, game localization, marketing, IT, medical, law and engineering fields.

My name is Daniela Gomes and I have been a Portuguese freelance translator and subtitler (EN-PTpt) for four years. In 2015, I finished my BA in Applied Languages and concluded my MA in Translation and Multilingual Communication early 2018. I have been working for international companies from North America and Europe translating and subtitling movies, TV shows and series for several well-known studios. I am a very responsible, ambitious and determined person who has worked in English, French and Spanish projects throughout the last years.

I've started translating IT content. As a freelancer, I work mainly with IT, Games, Literature and Medical content.

Having worked in several different industries in the past 10 years, acquiring knowledge of several areas of technical expertise, including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, CNC programming, and general maintenance work in several countries, I now invest the knowledge I gained into translation. Over the years, as I have developed my working competence in English, I have found myself in the role of translator within companies where I was called upon to translate documents, files and even entire computer programs. My experience in the various industries in which I have worked, in both English and Portuguese, provide me with the knowledge I need to carry out technical translations to a high degree of accuracy, ensuring the quality and precision is as high as possible.

I'm a native Portuguese translator, on the market for over 6 years. I've worked with several known companies such as Panasonic, IQ Options and TetraPak, which allowed me to solidify myself as an experienced translator on a few areas of interest. I started translating in 2005 when I was a teenager. I had a Brazilian forum about a Korean singer and most of the news we've got were in English. I translated all the English news we could find into Portuguese so our friends and visitors could read too. In 2009 I got into Languages course in college, thinking in becoming a literary translator since I really love to read. I translated short stories, ended up learning how to subtitle, all to family and friends. Late in 2015, I started my specialization in English - Portuguese translation where I've learned a lot about this amazing career. In 2016 I got my first paid jobs in translation and I've joined Babelcube, Coursera, and TedTalks to improve my skills. Today, I translate more technical texts than literature. But I can't say it isn't amazing. I've learned so many new things, and so much about myself in the process that I must say it is a win-win situation.
