English and Portuguese Languages Teacher and Translator

Since I retired as a teacher, I became a full-time freelance translator and was very successful from the very beginning. I built a portfolio of customers from all over the world, who keep sending me work on a daily basis due the trust they have in my accuracy, dedication to this fascinating world of words that is the act of translating and total fulfillment of deadlines.

First, I would like to introduce myself very briefly. I am a 42-year old native Portuguese speaker, who grew, studied and, nowadays, works in Portugal (in the city with the famous hovering umbrella installation, by the way). I am a trained translator with a diploma in English and Portuguese languages and translation post-graduate studies. Before finishing university I decided to interrupt studies to work as an expatriate translator/interpreter in a construction project with a Portuguese company in Barbados. I have completed university after returning and never stopped doing what I really like: communicate between languages. My experience and skills are especially strong with medicine, IT/ICT, defence, business, marketing and legal translation, dealing with contracts, annual reports, corporate websites, bidding documents, business plans, brochures, presentations, written resolutions, and agreements, confidential emails, language assistance in meetings, also experience in diplomatic level. The total number of words over these 20 years exceeds 5,000,000 words, with companies and brand names such as Huawei, Unitel, IBM, Unilever, Suunto, Dell, Disney, Gesticer, Harley Davidson, to name a few. I have previously served as a market researcher covering food, drink, lifestyles, trends, technology, and media habits in Brazil. I also have some experience in subtitling, working as a volunteer for TED. I have lived in English speaking countries for over eight years now and I am a native Portuguese speaker. I hold a B.A. in Industrial Design, a Masters in Marketing Analysis, and a Certificate in Language Interpretation and Translation. Born in São Paulo, I always had a passion for exploring the world and learning about different cultures, which led me to live in Riverside (California, EUA), Dublin, London, and Tokyo.
