I am a translation student who has been working with translation since 2018. I have translated all kinds of texts of texts, from poetry to academic essays and articles. Since I am at university exclusively studying translation, I have a vast theoretical background combined with translation practice since it is part of the course curriculum. I have been part of a scientific initiation project for undergraduates and received an honorable mention for it.

I am native Portuguese with excellent grammar, punctuation and spelling skills and I have almost as great skills in English. My brain is definitely bilingual. I have been a freelance Professional Translator since 2013, specializing in Business, Marketing and Social Sciences. I translated some website articles as a volunteer (since 2010) and I worked for an import/export company where I was responsible for all external communications (English/Spanish). I also performed some translation work in one of the companies I worked in. I use SDL Trados 2011, but I always check my translations, sentence by sentence, for grammar, meaning and vocabulary use - no automatic translations! I am also very proficient in manual translations, which many clients demand in order to attain better quality.

My experience as a translator ranges from technical documents to entertainment texts. I am a Law Bachelor and I have worked as a tax advisor, writing and proofreading documents in both English and Portuguese as daily jobs. I worked also on the Brazilian localization of EA’s FIFA 18 and Need for Speed Payback. My job was to ensure all texts and audio were properly translated for the Brazilian market, checking if these assets were correctly implemented in-game and that they fitted the game style and natural flow of the language. Such experience lit my desire of building bridges between different cultures and breaking down the language barriers between them. In my case, Portuguese is spoken by more than 255 million people, of which 210 million are Brazilians alone. However, the majority of the lusophone population has no understanding of the English language, and English speakers too have generally no knowledge of Portuguese.
