Since starting to work as a translator in March 2016 I have translated and revised over 500,000 words in a broad range of fields, including marketing, technical, automotive, medical, sport and many more. Editor and translator for EN/DE, trained at a business school in Vienna/Austria. Founder and director of Building Bridges Translations (2021). Since 2004 I participated in numerous projects translating and editing complete websites and handbooks for the technical and electronical industry, but also hotel prose. I translated and edited subtitles for several movies and documenteries. Three years I worked as fulltime Siri Data Analyst and Software Tester at Apple European HQ in Cork/Ireland, where I took part in tasks for testing and improving localization and speech recognition coding tools for the Austrian, German, and Swiss market.

Established in July 2019 providing translations and related services between Dutch - English - German. Thorsten, the owner/consultant, has over 25 years experience working in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, Contract Management and Customer Services for large and small (multi)national/multi-site private and public organisations; such as Philips Electronics NV, Dow Chemicals Ltd, Johnson Matthey Catalysts Plc, Local Government, NHS, Ubisoft, CEVA Logistics, Caterpillar, NSK Europe, Avaya and Teleperformance UK. Born and raised in The Netherlands to a Dutch mother and a German father, languages have always been a part of his life. At secondary school also studied French and Spanish, but these are not strong enough to provide translation services for.

Moved to the UK in 2000 where his language skills were in great demand by purchasing/supply chain management/procurement/contract management/logistics and customer service departments.

With a long and extensive background in the corporate world (US, CY & NL companies) in leading positions, I have managed to become a well-rounded specialist with strong expertise in Customer Services, Management, Account Management, Direct Selling, Compliance (within Direct Selling) obtained in international, multicultural environments of the sectors Tourism, e-Commerce, Telecom, FMCG, Financial Trading and Crowdfunding. I have translated text throughout my entire professional career, and am fully bilingual in the language pair EN-DE, DE-EN, and EN/DE - NL. I live in the Netherlands for over 19 years now, am a native German, and work as a freelance translator here and on other platforms for more than 5 years.
