I have been working as a translator for a number of international agencies and online platforms for more than 9 years now. In addition, I worked as a teacher of French, English and German for about 13 years, preparing students for their A-Levels. I hold an M.A. in English, French and Literature and completed my studies at the University of Osnabrück in December 2011. During my studies, I spent two academic years abroad, namely in Angers (France) and in Montréal (Québec, Canada) and have been to the US a number of times over the years as well.

Starting out as an interpreter for a local translation agency in 2013, I have been expanding my collaboration with a number of international agencies and online platforms ever since and completed countless translations for major international companies and SMEs from all over the world.

Language has always fascinated me-not merely the speaking of foreign languages but the act of translation in particular. Transforming the precise meaning of a text and making it alive in a different language requires more than an excellent command of the grammar and vocabulary of the target language. The translated text needs to sound natural and fluent, and maintaining the correct context is similarly essential. Translation of web-based e-commerce​ pages, for instance, is very different from translating an academic text or a literary piece.

I specialize in translating documents from English or Dutch into German, my mother tongue. I translate only into my home language as translations out of one’s home language can go badly wrong-both for oneself and for the client-if one is not fully bilingual. I am reliable.

Hi there! My name is Ricardo Marte and I work as a professional translator and photographer. I was born in Austria and lived there until I was 24 years old. When I was 24 I moved to Gent with my Belgian girlfriend. There I graduated with a Master of Science from the University of Ghent (teaching language English). Then I started working for Dutch company as an marketing analyst in the energy market. My main tasks consist of writing reports about the developments on the energy market in German, English and Dutch. I am communicative and take quality very seriously. I was born in Switzerland and at the age of 3 we moved to Slovakia, so I'm proficient in German and Slovak. I have learned and studied the English language for 15 years now, so I'm fluent in it as well. Working internationally for 7 years has provided me with a well rounded and complex understanding of the English language and its multiple dialects. I have gained extensive experience in the tourism and service sector which means translation plays a key role in all my work.

I began working as a freelance translator during my master studies at the University of Vienna in 2013. During this period I mostly did subtitling jobs for the Austrian Film Museum in Vienna. After my graduation in January 2015 I began to work with several translation agencies, specialising in tourism, arts and culture, legal texts, website translation, marketing and cosmetics.

As a trained European Merchant, with additional subject-specific training for lawyers in English, I have worked as a sales assistant, sales representative and recruiter for about 10 years, before I started freelancing full-time in 2009. Translating patents (technical English and German) became the main focus of my work as well as manuals and instructions, product descriptions and free style writing. As my clients are lawyers, manufacturing companies, marketing agencies and many more, I enjoy delivering anything from legal language to more creative writing.
