I have been working as a translator since 2018, when I started to attend the Languages and Cultures for Tourism and International Mediation course at the University of Bari. I graduated with the highest grade (110 e lode) and started my specialisation at the University of Turin (a Translation course focusing on literary translation). I work from both English and French and I am fond of literature: novels, poetry, theatre are my highest aims.

I've always had a passion for languages! Born in France, I grew up speaking French and learning English and German in school from an early age. I also touched on Italian, Spanish and Greek. But ultimately, my career led me to focus on English. I left France at the age of 30, stayed for 2 years in the USA, and have now been living in Canada since 2015. My background is scientific: I have several degrees in the biomedical and life sciences fields, including a Ph.D. in Biotechnology. I have over 10 years of experience in healthcare and research. During that time, I also offered translation services in my field as a secondary part-time activity. As of 2020, I am now a full-time translator English-to-French and French-to-English. My main interests remain in the medical/health sciences field, but I am also interested in a variety of other subjects that are not necessarily science related. I am building experience step by step since 2018, finding new clients and new projects. I have worked on various projects since I graduated (from small to big documents) and with two main language pairs (Chinese to French, English to French), but sometimes accepted a project in Chinese to English. I have experience with a lot of domains (mainly fiction, economics, politics, history, marketing and business). I enjoy discovering new challenges.

I'm a freelancer just starting out! I've always loved languages and since I speak three fluently, I thought it was high time to try my hand at translation work.

I've entered the field of translation in 2016 after being involved in other activities after finishing my masters in Translation studies. So, it was somehow going back to my first love. Since that moment translating has become my main activity, working as a freelance translator with agencies and private clients ever since. In this globalized world, when connections are very important in every field, whether we talk about business, travel, private life or medical issue, I feel that translators are that bridge that allow people to get where they need or where they want. The diversity of documents and fields that I have the opportunity to work with as a translator make me appreciate the challenges and enrich my knowledge. I have been working in companies in Hamburg for the past two years as a student assistant. In the last two jobs I had (one at a statistics company and another at an international cooperation NGO) I have been tasked regularly to translate documents from French to English and from English to French. Additionally, I grew up in the bilingual city of Montréal where these two languages are used interchangeably. I did all my elementary and secondary education in French and all my university (first and second cycles) in English.

I am a native French freelance translator (full time). I am fluent in English, Chinese and Japanese. I have a master's degree in Languages and International Affairs (English and Japanese) from Orléans University and a master's degree in Chinese language from (Chongqing's) Southwest University. I also studied in a Japanese university as an exchange student for 1 year and had 1 year working holiday in Tokyo. I did several internships and short-term jobs for international trade companies, including 8 months in Chinese companies in China where I did import and export related jobs, market research and international customer research. Not only I have knowledge in the field of Business and marketing, but I am also interested in various fields, such as cinema, history, travelling, comics and especially video games. I am available almost everyday and I accept both small and large projects. I use SDL Trados studio 2019. I can do translation, interpretation, proofreading, MTPE and subtitling.

I have a 9 years experience, having translated more than a million words all in all in my career, not counting all the translations I do for fun because I just like it ! I have a degree in biological engineering, completed by my vast general culture and professional experience in leadership positions in various companies, which means I can handle very well any topic from medicine to finance and marketing through video games and social sciences. I'm originally from Belgium but I now live in Côte d'Ivoire, which means I can do translations localized for both European and African audiences. My mantra is : if it sounds good, then it is good. It is utmost important for me that the audience cannot guess that they are reading a translation : they must feel as if the document was originally written by a native speaker. That is my objective. I'm also very strict regarding to spelling and typography since French has its own specific rules on capitals, brackets, etc. You won't be disappointed.
